This Privacy Policy explains how Ripple Foundation, a registered Canadian charity (Charitable Registration No. 80589 5760 RR0001), collects, uses, and protects personal information when you visit or make a purchase from our online shop at https://shop.ripplefoundation.ca (the “Shop”). All proceeds from the Shop support our free creative literacy programs for children and youth.
This policy applies to the Shop only. Our main website and program sites are covered by a separate Privacy Policy, available at https://www.ripplefoundation.ca/privacy-policy/. Your use of the Shop is also governed by the Shop’s Terms & Conditions at https://shop.ripplefoundation.ca/terms-conditions/.
When you place an order. To process and deliver your order, we collect your name, email address, shipping address, billing address, and phone number (if provided), along with details of the items you purchase.
Information We Collect
When you pay. Payments are processed securely by our third-party payment processors, Stripe and PayPal. Your payment details are collected and stored by the processor you choose at checkout, not by us — we never see or store your full card number.
When you create an account. If you register for a customer account, we store your login email, password (in encrypted form), order history, and any items you save to your wishlist. Creating an account is optional — you can check out as a guest.
When you contact us or subscribe. If you email us with a question or sign up for our e-newsletter, we collect your email address and the contents of your message.
Automatically, when you browse. Like most websites, the Shop collects certain technical information through cookies and similar technologies — including your IP address, browser type, device information, and the pages you visit. See the Cookies and Analytics section below for details and choices.
How We Use Your Information
- To process, fulfill, and deliver your orders, and to send you order confirmations and shipping/tracking updates;
- To respond to your questions and resolve issues with your order, including replacements or refunds for damaged or misprinted items;
- To manage your customer account, if you create one;
- To send our e-newsletter with new arrivals and program updates — only if you opt in, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email;
- To understand how the Shop is used so we can improve it;
- To detect and prevent fraud; and
- To comply with our legal obligations, including tax and charity record-keeping requirements.
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to anyone.
Who We Share Your Information With
We share personal information only with the service providers who help us run the Shop, and only for the purposes described in this policy:
- Printful — our print-on-demand fulfillment partner, which receives your name, shipping address, and order details in order to print and ship your items;
- Stripe and PayPal — which process your payment, depending on the payment method you choose at checkout;
- SendGrid — which manages our e-newsletter list and sends our emails;
- Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager — which help us understand how visitors use the Shop; and
- Our website hosting provider, which stores the Shop’s data.
Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how it handles your information, and we encourage you to review them. We may also disclose information where required by law.
Where Your Information Is Processed
Ripple Foundation is based in Canada, but some of our service providers operate in the United States and elsewhere. In particular, orders are printed and shipped by Printful from facilities in Canada or the United States, depending on which can fulfill your order most efficiently — which means your name and shipping address may be transferred to and processed in the United States. Information handled outside Canada is subject to the laws of those jurisdictions, and may be accessible to their courts, law enforcement, and national security authorities.
Cookies and Analytics
The Shop uses cookies and similar technologies to keep your cart working, remember your preferences, and understand how visitors use the site. Some of these — such as Google Analytics cookies — assign your browser an identifier that can distinguish you from other visitors, and this technical information may be considered personal information under Canadian privacy law.
You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics specifically using Google’s browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Blocking some cookies may affect Shop features such as the cart and checkout. To learn more about cookies generally, visit https://www.allaboutcookies.org.
How Long We Keep Your Information
We keep order records for as long as needed to fulfill your order, handle any issues, and meet our legal record-keeping obligations as a registered charity, including tax requirements. Account information is kept until you ask us to delete your account. Newsletter information is kept until you unsubscribe.
How We Protect Your Information
We use appropriate technical and organizational safeguards to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections throughout the Shop. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Choices and Rights
- You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate;
- You may unsubscribe from our e-newsletter at any time using the link in every email, or by contacting us;
- You may ask us to delete your customer account and associated information, subject to records we are legally required to keep; and
- You may withdraw your consent to our handling of your information, subject to legal and contractual restrictions — though this may mean we cannot complete an order for you.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. You also have the right to make a complaint to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (https://www.priv.gc.ca) or your provincial privacy regulator.
Children’s Privacy
Ripple Foundation’s programs serve children and youth, but the Shop is intended for use by adults. If you are under the age of majority in your province or territory, please make purchases with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the Shop; if you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date below, and if the changes are significant, we will post a notice on the Shop. Your continued use of the Shop after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
